  • Dog with bundles of unchanneled energy and bounce?

We’re working dog owners and know what it can be like living with a smart and energetic dog! Without an appropriate channel, their boundless energy and unmet natural instincts can come out in all sorts of problematic ways: running, chasing, playing, hunting and lack of hearing when they’re busy doing something ‘important’ to name a few!

Would you like to receive guidance and support to train your gundog, or gundog cross to be taken anywhere with the trust that they will come back when called and won’t drag you down the street?

Watch the genetics switch on in your gundog breed

Tap into my knowledge and expertise in one-to-one sessions as I share the skills you need to train a well-rounded, obedient pet gundog.

Introducing your dogs to this new challenge will keep their brain ticking and focus their love for life.

Sessions focus on your training goals. In general, we cover topics including:

    ·        Building focus, connection, and impulse control.

    ·        Key skills such as loose lead walking, recall, steadiness, and Place Boards.

    ·        Whistle control.

    ·        Hunting and retrieves of increasing complexity.

My exercises train the criteria set out in The Gundog Club Grades 1 & 2. They are aimed at helping family or working gundogs progress their training by providing a structured level of obedience and skillset through participation in a non-competitive Graded Training Scheme.

    How Individual Training Sessions Work

Step 1: Initial Consultation  Step 2: Regular Sessions

First, unless we have met before, you book an initial consultation.
The onboarding form asks a few more questions so that I can gather some information, to make a plan of how I can best help you before we meet in person.

Working with me on an individual basis, you can expect to meet regularly for in-person sessions focusing on your goals and progress at your own pace. Taking a clear and friendly approach, I give you a plan to get you from "A to B" in simple progressive layers with plenty to practice in between and am on hand to answer any questions should you need it.

FAQ: I’m not going to work my pet as a gundog, can I still do the training?

Yes, the training exercises are useful for owners of both family pet and working gundog breeds. My gundog training is about channelling the strong instincts to hunt and retrieve through fun reward-based games and exercises.

All ages, breeds, and experience levels are welcome.

All breeds of dogs who have had their vaccinations are welcome.

With my coaching, you have a trainer in your pocket to have any questions answered, hassle-free via ongoing email support.

      IMDT qualified trainer stamp

By working with a professional accredited by an externally verified body like The Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT) you can be assured that their training is up to date, science-based training methods that are proven to be effective and that have your dog’s welfare at heart because members of such organisations are assessed and have ongoing checks.

ADWs Emma obtained a distinction in her IMDT membership exams by demonstrating practical skill and theoretical knowledge; continued learning and development is an annual requirement to maintain this status, so Emma’s experience is ever expanded through courses and qualifications.

Unfortunately, the dog training industry is unregulated, making it difficult to place the same level of trust in all trainers. For example, puppy socialisation done wrong, or harsh methods used can cause problems and upset for pets and their parents. Therefore, we would encourage you to check a trainer's accreditation with a professional organisation before working with them, as many trainers self-accredit without any external validation.
