Dog Agility & Training Classes

Agility Club

Club classes offer progression to those who have completed the foundations by meeting new dogs in small groups** and trying different sequences.

All are welcome, whether you are new, returning or a regular.

These 1h standalone group sessions are tailored to the individuals who sign up and are designed to help dogs continue to progress.

What to expect in agility classes:

    • Each week we run a different course. At Balsham sequences include a combination of jumps, tunnels and weaves; at Barton, we have an A-frame and see-saw too.
    • To warm your dogs’ muscles up and learn the sequence, you will run short segments at a time. When all of the dogs have had a go at that level, we add a couple more obstacles to the following run.
    • Each turn gives you a chance to practice the course; I will be there to offer support and guidance should you need it, as well as throw in challenges for those that want one!
    • We progress in this way until we’re running the full course.

Anglian Dog Works has two Dog Agility Training venues to choose from:

    • The Farm at Balsham is located just off the A11, 7 miles from Cambridge, 10 miles from Newmarket, 12 miles from Saffron Walden, 25 miles from Bury St Edmunds.
    • The enclosed Paddock at Barton is in partnership with Positive Paws Dog Training located near  Foxcotte Farm, Comberton Road. During these sessions, we can use the adjacent areas so only one dog is loose in the agility field at one time if the individual needs space.

Members training is held most weeks in Balsham and/or Barton; a mixture of daytime, evening and weekend classes on various days.

    Additional Dog Training Opportunities:

    Workshops & Events:

Throughout the year, there are one off classes, events and workshops to offer progression for the members of this group and cultivate the community I am so proud of.

These sessions will develop skills around a focus topic by sharing fun reward-based games and training exercises.

    Beyond agility, we also offer:

    • Pet Gundog Training
    • Tracking
    • FUNgility
    • General obedience such as teaching dog recall and how to stop a dog pulling.

    Exclusive Community Access

    • Facebook Group: Members gain access to our private Facebook group, which includes early booking links, exclusive event calendars, and a space to connect with fellow dog enthusiasts.
    • Email Updates: Receive monthly updates with exclusive event announcements, special offers, and important community news.

If after reading through you still have questions, please do get in touch. Either, fill out the contact form here. Or, book a quick call to discuss your dog, training needs and services available to help you on your training journey.

Note: If you see the message "No appointments are available this month" on the booking page, this is because appointments are fully booked.

The calendar runs 45 days in advance so either check back again soon or I have a waiting list so please do get in touch using the contact form outlining your availability to be added & I will message you if there are any cancellations or dates added.

*These training options give attendees the skills they need to run short courses and become an Agility Club Member. Also open to those that have demonstrated that level of ability in an initial consultation/121.

** Note: due to the nature of the content, requires a minimum of 3 dogs per session to run.

    Agility Club

I started bringing my dog Reggie to Agility Club at Anglian Dog Works 3 years ago. He's a four year old sprocker and before training we struggled to manage his energy, he was always wanting to be on the go. This was challenging as just walking him didn't tire or settle him and we felt we needed to explore other avenues for his wellbeing (and our sanity!).

Agility gave Reggie the mental stimulation he needed and over time he's not only progressed and learnt new skills on the course, but his patience and focus have really improved. Things like paying attention to commands, sit/stay, behaving well around other dogs, and learning how to be calm and settle between turns.

Emma is so friendly and approachable, super knowledgeable and clearly loves working with all the dogs that come to her classes. She gives a lot of support and advice and has created a lovely community for the dogs and their handlers. I'd recommend the Club to anyone looking to do something fun, learn new skills or to create a closer bond with their dog.

    Brilliant agility training

Emma at Anglian Dog Works is very patient. Her instructions to get your dog to follow you are very clear and precise. She always demonstrates how the handler should run their dog. She is very kind and the class atmosphere is very friendly and encouraging. I highly recommend Emma and Anglian Dog Works.

    Members' training sessions

I have been working with Emma at ADW for nearly 3 years with my little sproodle, Charlie. Before we started Charlie's recall was not brilliant but the regular agility sessions has helped me and Charlie focus and build a close relationship. This means his behaviour and recall has improved immensely. This is all due to Emma's attention to detail and advice as well as making the sessions so much fun. Her commitment to helping everyone is amazing and she has been so supportive and encouraging when we went to our first non-club competition. I would really recommend giving it a go!

    Agility Class

An extremely rewarding session to be part of. Zorro has thoroughly enjoyed himself every time and learnt sooo much…. Thanks to Emma! We started with 121s which were so helpful and then advanced to group sessions, where everyone has been so friendly and supportive. It’s just a great hobby to have which you share with your dog! 🐶
